Chamber Financial Fitness Competition 2018
Teams from Key West High School competed in the first annual Financial Fitness competition, sponsored by the Key West Chamber of Commerce and prize money donated by Keys Federal Credit Union. The teams competed in several preliminary rounds to get to the top two, who faced off at Florida Keys Community College for their final match. The match was tied throughout, with the teams throwing their answers to the proctor almost as fast as she could read them. The match ran so long that they ran out of questions and were set to the final task of a head-to-head Financial Football game - a computer program that combines answers with difficulty - and the final team with the most right answers and the most "yardage" (based on the difficulty of the questions) would take home the grand prize. This was achieved by Team 2, the Wilcox family, who each received a check for $5,000 that they can use toward college expenses. Congratulations to the winners! Karrie Porter Photography was proud to be present to capture this competition and celebrate the win with these students!
